Although you can install and open the Ford IDS software without a license, the vehicle's communication features will only work if you have an active and up-to-date Ford IDS subscription. Running VCM IDS without a valid software license is like trying to drive a car without fuel: you might be able to turn on the radio, but you won't get anywhere.
